The pet-friendly philanthropists will reimburse donors for shipping costs for all CD contributions, then pass all proceeds on to the local chapter of the ASPCA.

Housing Works

GIFTING ~ ITUNES/AMAZON


IMPORTANT TO NOTE  Gifting mp3 downloads to Charities is not an option. Hard copies of Adam's CDs can be donated to charities from Amazon or Adam Official.

HOW

  • Open an iTunes Account - You may have more than one iTunes account per computer. Each account needs a different email address. You may use the same credit card.

  • Definition of Sale? Sale = Any Download That Is Charged To Your Credit Card or Pay Pal.

  • In the USA, to count as a sale, you can only download a single once per iTunes account. If you try to download again, you will receive a message that you have already downloaded that song. They are happy to download that song for you again for Free, but guess what? Free does not = sale!!! So, what to do? You want to download songs and iTunes won't let you! Dang!

  • Gifting! Yes, now you start Gifting to folks who....

           * Have an iTunes account in the same country you live in.
           * Are aware that they are receiving a download from you, and will
              download the Gift within a day or two.

  • How many times can you Gift? As many times as possible, to as many people as possible....Consult your bank account and budget!

  • To Gift, go to iTunes and find Adam's singles. Right next to "Buy" is a downward arrow. This is a drop-down menu. Pull the menu down and click on Gift. Follow iTunes directions from there.

  • If you can't afford to purchase a download, there are many who are more than happy to Gift you a copy. You will need to have an email address and an iTunes account.

  • You may want to have Gifting partners from friends in the real world or from Twitter. Gifting Buddies!

The above information applies to the USA. Each country has it's own rules! Some countries may still allow you to download endlessly from your own computer. Experiment!

                                GIFTING MP3's FROM AO


There is a way to gift music from AO. This works better and it is easier than iTunes because you can donate to anyone around the world whereas with iTunes you can only gift within your own country.

Purchase the song/CD as normal. Stop when you get to the point where there is a gray button that says download. Look up to the address in your browser and copy and paste into an email. Email link anywhere in the world. Link is valid until someone hits that gray download button.

Tip: I have found with AO MP3 downloads it works best to click on the manual download link rather than the gray download button. The manual download link is on the same page as the gray download button. It is buried in the text of instructions. You probably won't even know it's a link until you hover your cursor over the text.

This method has worked well for me. I have done this numerous times. Contact me if you wish to experiment before you try it. Also, there is no way for the person receiving the gift to see your contact or billing information.

Great idea about getting cross fandom work going -- what about Tokio Hotel? MCR? I see fans on my feed from there.

A sale is a sale is a sale as far as Billboard. However, iTunes rankings only count one sale per computer. In other words one person can't purchase 1,000 copies of a song and watch it go to #1 on iTunes. It will count as 1,000 sales though for Billboard. However, BB does look at anomalies when doing their rankings. But their definition of an anomaly is far outside the range of any Adam fans pocketbook.  

Organizations etc are not going to take downloads of singles. However, I would put out the offer on twitter to gift the single to those fans who don't have a CC - the younger fans. They are the ones who will be inclined to rip it. The worst thing fans can do is put the song up on YouTube (which they do all the time) One it goes on YouTube it's easy to rip.

The twitter account @giftadamsmusic needs more followers. I want to use that account to to draw in more fans.  I'd love to draw in some Bieber fans. I would like to use that account to marry up two groups. Those willing to gift the single or CD's to fellow fans and those that need a copy can't afford it or potential new fans.

are we we considering gifting the single? i vaguely remember the japan thing -- it seemed complicated and worked. at the same time, i think B you wrote somewhere that only the first itunes download per account counts? nope, i think you actually said gifts count once they are downloaded, correct?

Teen fans without credit cards that you see on twitter are good recipents too. They are most likely to rip but won't if they are gifted a copy. A lot of fans are dependant on gifts from family members or their allowance to buy the CD. So gifting amongst each other is a whole different segment.

Amazon is a great place to donate from. It also sends you e-mails when the CDs ship so you can track the shipments!!! I don't think we will be able to donate singles to organization, but we can give as gifts to friends and relatives. If anyone is gifting and your friends or relatives have iTunes, it is better to do it through iTunes rather than AO as we will see immediate results on their charts!! Doing it from AO, we would have to wait a week or longer to get sales numbers and see where he places on Billboard.

I updated on AO, but should add here -- we have to get their twitters consolidated so waiting on twitter support to help.  That is problem with volunteer orgs - people leave with passwords and emails!  And then they open new twitters and it gets too confusing.  I want one that people can find.  :-)  But I have everything ready -- will get it to you when we are ready to launch.

Barbls - yes, the org wants physical ones because they don't have a good way to pass links around.  For things from AO, you could do it, but they aren't setup for it.  And for iTunes, I don't think it works since it needs to come to the specific person and we won't be handing out info about the individual youth.  So for now, we'll stick with physical music and for international, funds can be donated in Adam's name.

I got it and it worked.  LindaJean had it right.  You just have to remember to copy the link and not wait for an email (I was dummy!) - LOL.  And great to know the international information!  Yea!

I gifted through AO many, many times. I bought it then proceeded to go as far as the point where you hit the gray button to download. From there I copied the URL and emailed it. It worked well because unlike iTunes which is country specific I could send the link to anyone in the world. I remember it worked best when you hit the manual download link (which is kind of hidden in the text of the instructions) rather than the gray download button.

I will do some research.  People gifted Adam's Aftermath from AO because that was only place that benefited Trevor Project and we gave it to Japan. I just remember there being a trick - will have to look it up.  I tried to gift to a friend recently and it failed - I didn't get the link.  NO worries tho - I know where to look this up.  (just not 2day - late!)  :-)  Thanks!

RadarEcho this org sounds awesome. Thanks so much for looking into this and getting the information so we can post it on the page. I don'[t know if you can gift a single from AO that is a dowload, but you can from iTunes. If you are talking about donating to an organization though, I don't know if it is possible to donate/gift a single(s) to them. Albums yes, because you can send physical CDs and you can do that at Amazon, Barnes & Noble and probably Best Buy!!! Amazon is the best place to donate from!!

It is an org similar to 1n10 - I was so impressed by them, wanted to get more involved with a local one. I have only made initial email contact, but will be meeting with them to discuss.  Will let you know.  So excited!
