(Los Angeles, Calif.) — Music stars Avril Lavigne, Adam Lambert, Colbie Caillat, and Claude Kelly have joined a growing lineup of top musical artists who will appear as mentors (“Majors”) to aspiring young talent on the upcoming original reality series “Majors & Minors,” premiering September 23 on The Hub TV Network, a destination for kids and their families. They join previously announced artists including Brandy, Leona Lewis, Jordin Sparks, Sean Kingston, Mike Posner and One Republic’s Ryan Tedder. Other major artists will be announced later and all will serve as “mentors,” guiding the talented cast as they embark on their individual journeys toward stardom.

The announcement was made today by Margaret Loesch, President and CEO of The Hub, who was joined by platinum selling music artist Brandy appearing on behalf of the series during The Hub’s appearance at the 2011 Television Critics Association (TCA) Press Tour in Beverly Hills. The series’ Executive Producers Timothy Scott Bogart, Evan “Kidd” Bogart, and Gary A. Randall participated in the event.

Avril Lavigne, who recently released her critically acclaimed fourth album Goodbye Lullaby, is an international music sensation, eight-time Grammy Award nominee and has sold more than 30 million albums and nearly 20 million tracks worldwide. Lambert’s debut album For Your Entertainment, featuring the Grammy nominated single “Whataya Want From Me” has sold over 1 million copies worldwide since making it’s debut at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 chart in November 2009. Caillat has sold more than six million albums worldwide and has two Grammy Awards for her duet with Jason Mraz on the single “Lucky” and as a backup vocalist on Taylor Swift’s Album of the Year, Fearless. Kelly is a hugely successful singer-songwriter who has written singles for Britney Spears, Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, Toni Braxton, Jordin Sparks and more.

Also announced at the TCA were the names of the 12 cast members selected from more than 40,000 children nationwide who auditioned for the series. The dozen cast members, ages 10-16 years old will gain the learning experience of a lifetime as they are mentored by some of the most successful musical artists and coaches in the business today. The cast members will vie for the ultimate dream prize of a recording deal with the RCA/Jive Label Group and an opportunity to be featured in a cross-country concert tour. In “Majors & Minors” there are no losers, and while none of the cast will be “voted off” the series, only one will win the prize. The 12 cast members will have the unique opportunity of being guided and groomed in a completely supportive and collaborative environment.

What a great opportunity for these young people. I wonder if each Major works with an individual or if they work as a group. If they work as individuals......what a lucky person to get to work with Adam! Seems people love reality shows so this is a very big win situation for Adam. The exposure it gives him covers a wide audience.

In agreement with you @Barbls. No disrespect to the other Majors, but as we saw on AI, Adam has that extra something special when mentoring. I believe it comes from his genuine desire to help others and to lift them up. He makes a genuine connection with his pupil, as he does with his audience when performing....his sincerity shines through. I can compare it to when we were kids in school, we knew instinctively the teachers who really poured their hearts into the students and we felt it.....as opposed to the teachers who were doing their jobs and at the end of the day walked home with paycheck in hand....their personal mission accomplished. To teachers like Adam, it is about so much more than that. It is about the love of his art and sharing what he knows so graciously with others.

Of course that is not to say the other mentors are not fabulous ....I'm sure they are.....I just love me some Adam as a mentor LOL!!

I just saw a commercial for Majors & Minors and guess who was in the commercial? Our Adorable, Gorgeous Adam!!! I cannot wait until the 23rd. I hope he is on that night!! Waiting impatiently for his appearance both on this and Project Runway!!!

Just checked my TV, wont be able to watch it, gr.... guess have to bother our neighbors with it. Adam is so full of good ideas and does so well in reading into different personalities. Can see him being a perfect mentor for those young ones with all their dreams and talents. Hope I have a chance to watch it somehow.

Hi pųşĉħł♫, I am sure there will be tapes of the program on line after the episode. That seems to be the way shows are doing it now, which is great for people who do not have the channel. I am so happy I get the channel!!

I know I've seen the guy in 1st picture with Adam before but can't remember his name. He tweeted about meeting Adam that day and he sounded very impressed.

I have my DVR set for Majors and Minors on Sunday. I look forward to hearing what he tells the kids and how they sing his song in the end. I'm still bummed about the single not coming out, so maybe this will help....and watching reruns of the Queen performance on my DVR.
