GIFTING ~ ITUNES/AMAZON


IMPORTANT TO NOTE  Gifting mp3 downloads to Charities is not an option. Hard copies of Adam's CDs can be donated to charities from Amazon or Adam Official.

HOW

  • Open an iTunes Account - You may have more than one iTunes account per computer. Each account needs a different email address. You may use the same credit card.

  • Definition of Sale? Sale = Any Download That Is Charged To Your Credit Card or Pay Pal.

  • In the USA, to count as a sale, you can only download a single once per iTunes account. If you try to download again, you will receive a message that you have already downloaded that song. They are happy to download that song for you again for Free, but guess what? Free does not = sale!!! So, what to do? You want to download songs and iTunes won't let you! Dang!

  • Gifting! Yes, now you start Gifting to folks who....

           * Have an iTunes account in the same country you live in.
           * Are aware that they are receiving a download from you, and will
              download the Gift within a day or two.

  • How many times can you Gift? As many times as possible, to as many people as possible....Consult your bank account and budget!

  • To Gift, go to iTunes and find Adam's singles. Right next to "Buy" is a downward arrow. This is a drop-down menu. Pull the menu down and click on Gift. Follow iTunes directions from there.

  • If you can't afford to purchase a download, there are many who are more than happy to Gift you a copy. You will need to have an email address and an iTunes account.

  • You may want to have Gifting partners from friends in the real world or from Twitter. Gifting Buddies!

The above information applies to the USA. Each country has it's own rules! Some countries may still allow you to download endlessly from your own computer. Experiment!

                                GIFTING MP3's FROM AO


There is a way to gift music from AO. This works better and it is easier than iTunes because you can donate to anyone around the world whereas with iTunes you can only gift within your own country.

Purchase the song/CD as normal. Stop when you get to the point where there is a gray button that says download. Look up to the address in your browser and copy and paste into an email. Email link anywhere in the world. Link is valid until someone hits that gray download button.

Tip: I have found with AO MP3 downloads it works best to click on the manual download link rather than the gray download button. The manual download link is on the same page as the gray download button. It is buried in the text of instructions. You probably won't even know it's a link until you hover your cursor over the text.

This method has worked well for me. I have done this numerous times. Contact me if you wish to experiment before you try it. Also, there is no way for the person receiving the gift to see your contact or billing information.

RadarEcho Sorry i did not make myself clear. i had already privately messaged Oshi and Lindajean about the idea of gifting each other the single before i saw your comment. When I saw your comment it was as if you had read my mind. We have to think of a way to be able to buy multiple to ensure great sales for Adam's new single. i think this could be a really a good way. Fans gifting fans. Going to test to see if we can gift to someone even though they have already downloaded a copy. Then see if I can gift multiple times to the same person. If we can each do this, it is a work around to downloading multiple copies!!

Oshi, weighing in as usual!! You can send an iTunes gift Card to any e-mail account the recipient gives you, it does not have to be the e-mail address they use at iTunes.

Oshi.........when you join iTunes you have to have an email address to sign up with. A lot of people don't want to accept iTunes gifts thinking that if the donor has their iTune email account they can be hacked. However, the receipent can provide any email address they want. I personally tried this.

RadoEcho, great minds think alike. i just messaged you Oshi and Lindajean, about starting a list of fans that would want to be a part of this. We can download our one copy and then gift to as many people on the list as you can afford to do. I don't think iTunes or Amazon can keep you from receiving gifts!!!

It's more important than ever for people not to rip. Unfortunately at the first leak Adam fans pass links around amongst each other or post the song on YouTube which is even worst.

I should have mention that you can gift to others, but you really need to know that the person you are gifting to is going to download as the sale will not count until it downloads.  Also, I don't know of any place you can donate a single!! God between iTunes, VH1 changing how many times you can vote a day, we really need everyone to buy!! Going to test Amazon downloading. Now that they have the cloud I think it is going to be the same as iTunes!!

I just did it for WWFM and it did the same thing. However, iTunes is not the only digital downloader around. How about Amazon or Rhapsody? Anyone try Amazon? Something else I've been thinking about. I'll send you all an email

I have 10.5 also!! Every time i try to download a song again it pops up that i already have it and do I want to redownload free!! i have tried it on all 3 of my authorized computers and it even does it on my iphone. We are in deep trouble with downloads for Adam's new single at iTunes!!

LindaJean I have always been able to download and keep downloading a song, but i believe the new versions of iTunes will not let you download from the same computer more than once. Have you tested this lately?

You can download the same song 1,000xs if you want. You do have to do it one at a time though. ITunes does not have a qty option. Buy BTIKM then simply buy again and again. Each time after the first time it will say you already bought this. Ignore and buy again. It will show another purchase in your library. Only the first time that you buy the song will it count toward ITUNES CHARTS. Keep in mind ITUNES CHARTS are not the same thing as Billboard charts. ALL SALES count toward Billboard charts. However ITunes charts are important in the way that the higher up the chart the more visibility and the more likely someone will buy.

I am going to try an experiment and I'll let you know if it works but I'm not going to do it until this weekend unless someone else wants to try it in the meantime. Like I said iTunes only counts sales of a single one time which means they measure the sale of the song in some manner. They either do it through your billing file or your library. If they do it through the billing/purchase file than experiment won't work if they do through your library experiment will work. I want to purchase a single then delete all traces of it off my hard drive not just my library then buy it again and see what happens.

Oshi, I am confused. I have downloaded the same songs more than once, in fact quite a few. You cannot do it at the same time as there is no where to put the quantity you want to download. You need to download them one after the other.  A box will always pop up stating that you have already bought this and do you want to continue to download and buy again and I always say yes and it downloads. When I look in my itunes, they are all there.

Thanks for looking into this Oshi...it is a big issue   and topic of discussion and worry throughout the fandom....I have been directing, and have amped up, the directing of twitter peeps to the various information areas of this site, so any and all info that can be placed on the various areas of the site will help fans tremendously!!  Site is great!! Peeps complaining that iTunes 9 AND 10 prevent buying multiple copies of a single when not directly gifting at time of purchase...we really need to find a way to get around this, as their is a fan wide angst about not being about to do this for Adam #2

there's lots of valuable info here that is not common knowledge. looks like you're command central for getting the donating to other fans thing going. lindaj your post about @giftadamsmusic is several weeks old. are you still going with that? should it be on AO? i alluded to you guys on there tonight;) congrats on the PR from gather!
